JOB GRADING: C-Lower
DEPARTMENT: Engineering – Asset Management
The role is supportive to the Planned Maintenance function which coordinates, facilitates, and manages the maintenance management programme. The function is integral to improving equipment reliability and availability.
Requirements:
• Be in possession of a Grade 12 qualification or equivalent
• Be in possession of a Trade Certificate
• Be proficient in the use of SAP, specifically regards the ordering and purchasing functions of the system
• Be proficient in MS Office
• Have at least three [3] years’ experience on trackless mobile equipment as well as Materials Management within a mechanized mining environment.
• Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment.
• Must have proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or be fully vaccinated by the date of the commencement of employment.

• Utilize in depth technical knowledge as an artisan to assist in expediting spares availability and supply
• Detailed understanding of the use of the pallet and cassette system of spares and equipment allocation

• Intermediate knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management System
Responsibilities:
• Participate in daily meetings to discuss safety standards and procedures, risk assessments, planned task observations and daily jobs
• Partner with the supply chain function to maintain spare inventory levels at the pre-determined levels, reducing carrying and storage costs
• Ensuring the availability of the right equipment at the right time to avoid machine downtime
• Ensures that pre- and post-assessments are carried out on the old components as per standard operating procedures
• Liaise between planned maintenance, engineering Foremen and stores to provide an effective parts delivery service
• Manage and control parts issue register to report on status of maintenance parts at all times.
• Ensure unused spares are returned to stores and credited to relevant engineering budgets.
• Be in possession of a valid South Deep acquired Forklift license (or willing to attain such certification) to assist with the movement of spares and equipment as and when required.
