To assist in the provision of routine and general planned, preventative and corrective maintenance of facilities to assure functional performance.
Responsibilities:
• Assess assigned maintenance of SABS facilities requests including carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, postal , fleet , filter washing, driver, etc. requirements and implement accordingly within scope of control.
• Assess assigned tasks for adequacy of problem definition and resolution, and initiate further investigative work if required.
• Assess assigned tasks for most efficient and effective method to maintain or restore to functional requirements.
• Assess assigned maintenance and quantify the physical resource requirements regards tools, equipment, parts and consumables.
• Assess assigned maintenance and quantify people or skill resource requirements necessary and notably where other disciplines are required.
• Inspect the workplace and report on any matter or incidents that require remedial action.
• Concisely communicate the resource requirements per defined documentation and procedure to assure first-time correct resources are obtained.
• Participate where requested in project requirements specifications, hand-overs to contractors, quality control and acceptance at end of project.
• Verify that all resource requirements are available for the maintenance execution and if not, redirect to Manager: Facilities Maintenance.
• Verify that all health, safety and environmental precautions have been taken or are in place prior to execution and if not assure these are implemented.
• Execute the maintenance and repair of general carpentry, plumbing, mechanical and electrical faults to the required trade standards.
• Execute the operational work requirements in the facilities support area i.e. postal , fleet , etc.
• Continually and comprehensively perform quality control throughout the maintenance procedure and upon completion.
• Comprehensively record as required the resources consumed, tasks executed and other defined failure and repair data.
• Plan, organise and coordinate relevant work duties as they relate to the department.
• Initiate cease work procedures where there is an immediate threat to the health and safety of workers and their supervisor is unavailable
• Ensure that all relevant job cards are completed as per the SABS standard operating procedures.
• Transport clients and/or packages to and from destinations
• Ensure that vehicles are always fueled and ready for use
• Ensure good housekeeping is maintained at all times
• Complete and maintain monthly toolbox registers
• Complete all painting, plumbing, tiling, filter washing, driving, car washing, housekeeping and any other work as allocated, within scope of control
• Assist in identifying and adhering to fraud controls, risk prevention principles, sound governance and compliance processes, and tools to identify and manage risks.
• Support and provide evidence to all internal and external audit requirements.
• Adhere to all relevant laws, policies and Standard Operating Procedures throughout the organisation.
• Continually and comprehensively monitor health, safety and environmental precautions to ensure that these remain effective
• Build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships for the purpose of expectations management, knowledge sharing and integration, and to manage the organisation’s reputation.
• Represent and participate in the organisation’s committees and tasks teams when required.
• Ensure efficient communication of all inspections, non-conformances and reports to line management
• Provide excellent customer service as per SLA
• Handle queries and resolve problems within span of control and within agreed time frames
• Follow up on queries, complaints etc. where necessary
• Liaise with relevant stakeholders regarding follow-up of information, as required.
Requirements:
• Higher Certificate in a relevant trade occupation
• Driver’s License and Professional Driving Permit
• 1-2 year relevant work experience in general facilities maintenance
• Proven track record in repair and/or maintenance of carpentry, plumbing, mechanical and/or electrical issues
