To conduct general maintenance work (basic mechanical, electrical, building and plumbing maintenance work) at HomeChoice Head Office and ensure that general facilities and kept in good working order.
Responsibilities for the N4-N6 TVET Apprenticeship Programme are:
• To install, maintain and repair mechanical & electrical plant and equipment and manufacture parts by use of basic hand tools and carry out basic repair work.
• Mechanical, Electrical & HVAC System Repairs:
• Carries out routine services on oil and air filters, purification system and other systems in plant.
• Caries out services and repairs on simple mono pumps, valves’ packing and cartridges.
• Manufactures parts and tools through use of basic hand tools and simple turning.
• Performs messenger / driver duties; collects and delivers tools and equipment for the department.
• Assists Mechanical Artisan on major jobs’ repair and services as and required.
• Cleans and keeps work areas clean.
Electrical:
• Ensure all electrical systems compliant and in good working order.
• HVAC Ensure air-conditioning system in good working condition.
Maintenance Workshop & Tools:
Procedural awareness and understanding:
• Achievement of work targets

• General Conduct
Reporting and risk management:
Inspect the whole facility weekly for the following and repair if needed:
• Roadways, walkways, doors and signage in good condition
• Leaks (taps, urinals, toilets, fire sprinkler system and garden sprinklers)
• Broken lights / lamps
• Any loose electrical wiring
• Generator fuel level (refill if low and arrange for the purchase of backup / standby diesel
• To report any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise at any time.
Maintenance Activities:
• Meet every morning with Maintenance Manager to discuss the planned maintenance work for the day.
• Working under extreme heat temperatures, pressures, heights, and dusty conditions.
• Often lifts heavy plant items.
• Being able to locate plant problems and resolve effectively to avoid load losses and trips.
• Being available for emergency call outs.
• Working abnormal hours when required
Team cooperation and commitment:
• Maintain a good relationship and communication with all Departmental Managers and fellow workers.
• Assist the Administrator with completion of legal checklists & registers.
• Willingness to work Weekends and Overtime from time to time.
• Perform any other work as reasonably requested by the Maintenance Manager.

Requirements:
• Matric/Grade
• Clear criminal record
• Computer Literacy advantageous
• N6 Certificate from a TVET College – (Mechanical or Electrical)
