To be considered for this position, applicants must have a minimum Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Educational Certificate with a focus on Mathematics and English Communication. This is a requirement for the Blasting Certificate programme that the Learner Miner will be participating in. In addition to educational qualifications, candidates must also be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre.
Previous mining experience is not a requirement for this position, but will be considered an advantage. Additionally, applicants must be residents of the local community and must provide proof of residence with their application.
The Learner Miner will be responsible for acquiring the competencies necessary to conduct safe and efficient blasting and other associated mining activities in an underground environment. This will be done through the Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines programme.
