Purpose of the Position: As an Operator, your primary responsibility will be to safely blend, melt/smelt, and atomize smelter by-product materials, high-grade customer deposits, and blister copper. This must be done in accordance with the production plan and standard operating procedures.

Decision Making: Problems will be resolved by referencing established procedures, and issues beyond established procedures will be escalated upwards.

Diversity of Work: In addition to operational tasks, you will be involved in administrative duties, SHERQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality) requirements, and skills transfer to maximize operational multi-tasking.

Major Responsibilities:

• Blending the charge according to the recipe for efficient melting in the furnace.
• Collection and homogeneity maintenance of materials and fluxes.
• Ensuring silos are adequately filled, monitoring stock levels, and blending charges on time.
• Maintaining high housekeeping standards.
• Weighing and sampling by-products for metal balance purposes.
• Participation in stock counts and accurate reporting through production logs.

Requirements:

• Minimum Qualifications: Completed Matric qualification.
• Experience: Preference for candidates with at least 2 years of work experience in a Smelting/Operational environment.
• Skills and Knowledge:
  • Manual task proficiency.
  • Computer proficiency – MS Office and SAP.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Risk management skills.
  • Organized thinking and ability to work under pressure.
  • Initiative and results-driven mindset.
  • Troubleshooting skills and reporting equipment deviations.
  • Fit to be trained and operate mobile equipment.
