Job Description

The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority that focuses on facilitating skills development in the mining and minerals sector. This is done through the Skills Development Act of 1998 and the Mine Health and Safety Act of 1996. In an effort to support the growth and development of the mining industry, the MQA is offering an exciting internship opportunity within its Human Resource Unit.

The internship is open to unemployed South African citizens who have never participated in an internship program before. The successful intern will be appointed for a period of 24 months and will receive a monthly stipend of R8, 713.50. This is a great opportunity for individuals to gain valuable hands-on experience in the field of human resources within the mining industry.

The successful incumbent will be exposed to a range of Key Performance Areas within the HR Unit, including recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, labour/employee relations, human resources information systems, payroll, general administration, and employee wellness.

To qualify for this opportunity, candidates should have a National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Human Resources Management at NQF Level 6. A tech/degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent qualification at NQF Level 7 will be an added advantage. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as sound interpersonal skills, the ability to work under pressure, resilience, and agility, are essential for success in this role.

Knowledge of the mining and minerals sector will be advantageous, but not a requirement. The closing date for applications is 24 January 2023, and no late applications will be considered.
