Construction Hand (No B Cert)
Introduction
Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Construction Hand. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
Effective and efficient supervision of the mining construction crew to achieve production targets
Plan, schedule and control activities to ensure availability of resources, materials and equipment
Effective management of materials, consumables and explosives
Participate in waiting place / pre-shift meetings and ensure parameters relating to quality, quantity, cost and safety are understood
Team and self-perform drilling, blasting, lashing, shaft lining and equipping to standard
Team and self-understand and comply with M&RC’s policies, procedures, standards
Proactive risk identification and mitigation in compliance with DMR, M&RC and Client’s safety requirements
Effective self and team management and alignment with MRC values and leadership initiatives
Safe operation of TMM equipment (secondary mining equipment)
Safe installation of conveyor transfers points, drive stations, tail ends, head ends, belt tensioning systems
Safe installations and construction of pump stations, dam walls, piping and valves
Supervise underground rigging installation and hooking points
Comply with the lock out systems required on machinery and equipment
Adhere to M&RC’s policies, procedures, standards and safety protocols
Minimum requirements:
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent
Valid Medical certificate of Fitness
Covid-19 Coronavirus Vaccination Certificate [Site Specific]
Valid First Aid Certificate
License to supervise or similar supervisory certificate (Planning, Leading, Organising and Control)
Good verbal and written English communication skills
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
At least 4 years of experience in underground mining and underground construction work
Experience supervising a team
Knowledge of all construction work such as pipe installations, rail construction and concrete
Ability to perform risk assessment proficiently
Working experience in an underground mining environment
