Business Need/Purpose of Role:
This role is responsible for planning and preparing for the operations of a moulding/core making production process. They produce and assemble cores and close moulds. Inspection of mould quality prior to closing and also solving mould/core related defects problems.
Responsibilities:
• Ramming, stripping, coating, coring and closing of copes and drags
• Cleans and smoothes moulds, cores, core boxes and repair surface imperfections
• Adherence to safety inspection of machines / equipment as per safe work instructions
• Operate machines / equipment in accordance with safe work instructions
• Stack moulds in allocated areas and in a safe manner
• Achieve production targets
• Perform TPM checklists
• Adherence to quality control as per work instructions
• Report non-conformances and communicate suggestions for improvement to the Shift Leader
• Identify any potential hazards and risks and report to Shift Leader
• To adhere to required protective clothing rules and ensure appropriate PPE is worn at all times
• Report unsafe conditions to Shift Leader
• Maintain demarcation lines in area of work
• Attend compulsory Safe start / green area meetings at the beginning of every shift
• Adherence to all statutory SHE and housekeeping requirements
• Adhere to Duty of Care Policy at all times
Requirements:
• Internal Applicants: Grade 10
• External Applicants: Matric (Grade 12) or N3 qualification
• Qualified Moulder artisan
• 3-5 years foundry moulding / closing experience
• Knowledge of product parts
Competencies:
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, SOPs
• Ability to write reports
• Ability to speak effectively before groups
• Ability to solve practical problems
• Mathematical skills
