The Checker Operator role at our Potchefstroom Depot is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to make a difference in our warehouse operations. The key purpose of this role is to load, unload, and stack materials safely and efficiently while maintaining our governance and customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct pre-trip inspections prior to the start of each shift using the forklift inspection checklist.
Ensure that the forklift is operated and maintained in optimal condition.
Ensure that fuel and fluids are at accepted operating levels.
Adhere to the health, safety, and environmental standards.
Comply with Department of Labour stacking exemptions.
Maintain and adhere to site housekeeping standards.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment as designated by site safety standards.
Manage stock quality by ensuring stock rotation principles are applied and warehouse stock age standards are maintained.
Check packaging on the warehouse floor and prior to loading to ensure quality control.
Participate in handover process before and after every shift.
Perform accurate daily stock count using handheld device and generate variance report in SAP and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain clear and effective communication with Inventory Manager, Controller, and Supervisor.
Accurately check, load, and unload vehicles.
Update shipment status in SAP.
Maintain clear and effective communication with Logistics Coordinator/team members.
Ensure all documentation is accurately and comprehensively completed.
Ensure production continuity (where applicable).
Load empties and raw materials onto production lines while ensuring optimal productivity.
Remove and stack finished product from line to bin while ensuring optimal line productivity.
Be conversant with relevant business information, policies, processes and procedures.
Qualifications:
Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent
Valid forklift driver license
Experience operating a double handler
Computer literate
SAP literacy is advantageous
Good interpersonal skills and ability to build good relationships
Ability to work under pressure
Good verbal and communication skills
Good self-management principles
Ability to adapt to change effectively

Good numerical ability
