The purpose of the job is to manage the evaluation/assessment and verification of compliance with aircraft maintenance standards in accordance with approved procedures, approve and oversight maintenance organisations, manage safety inspections, conduct aircraft maintenance research including any ad hoc projects and also make decision on the processing of associated maintenance applications and certificates and any other related work activities that may be allocated by higher management from time to time.
Responsibilities:
• Planning and Research
• Determine the objectives for the department and outputs required.
• Determine the deliverables of the department from the objectives.
• Identify the appropriate resources (human/physical) for departmental functional performance.
• Proactively research specific standards to be applied in the area of aircraft maintenance and continuing airworthiness
• Advise higher management on all registration and airworthiness aspects of aircraft.
• Operational Management
• Secure and delegate appropriate resources.
• Monitor and measure departmental performance.
• Initiate corrective actions to ensure service delivery.
• Compile reports on departmental performance.
• Manage the department in accordance with policy, procedural and legal requirements.
• Oversee the certification process pertaining to aeronautical products and parts design, ensuring ICAO and ISO standards are complied with.
• Advise industry stakeholders around safety and airworthiness issues.
• Management of Subordinates
• Create and maintain a climate conducive to acceptable performance in attaining departmental deliverables against objectives.
• Monitor individual performance against agreed standards. Initiate proactive and corrective action as required.
Requirements:
• National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Management Diploma (in Business or Safety Management)
• Bachelors Degree in Aeronautical Engineering
EXPERIENCE (MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED – TYPE AND NUMBER OF YEARS)
• Aircraft Airworthiness 5 years
• Aviation Regulatory environment5 years
• Civil/Military Aviation experience (Overall)10 years
